The late Elder John W. Mayes founder and Pastor of the Mayes Community Temple Church of God in Christ started and founded the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (IMA) April of 1977.  The IMA brought Pastors and Ministers and Leaders in the Marion Community together to be a voice in the community.  Under his leadership he organized and put together "Joy in the Park", Christmas Adoption Families", and the "John W. Mayes free Thanksgiving Dinner".  The Alliance currently continues to support these serving ministries in the community.
